Another thing for fic_promptly. Been a minute since I wrote this ship, I missed it. Also, I know the booze is free at the hotel, but for this one, let's pretend it isn't. Or Angel and Husk are just fucking around.

For as long as he’d been able, Husk had resisted getting glasses. What did he need glasses for? He’d never needed them before, and he’d done fine. He didn’t need them in life, why would he need them in death?

But then Angel had made a bet. Go check his eyesight, and if he was right, Angel would stop bugging him about free drinks for a month (he’d argued for longer, but at least it was better than the mere day Angel had started from), and if Angel was right, he’d get a free drink a day for the same amount of time.

He’d always had a hard time resisting a bet, even the dumb ones.

Honestly though, it seemed like Angel found just as much pleasure in being able to tell him ’I told you so’ as he did the free drinks, judging by the expression on his face.

Because yeah, maybe he’d been right.

For once, Husk actually took the time to read the newspaper. It might be purely because it didn’t give him a headache anymore (well, the contents could be headache-inducing enough, but he no longer had to squint to read it), so maybe he’d read a few pages. Most of it was uninteresting, filled with gossip and drama made more sensational than it really was.

Flipping the page, he looked up as he saw Angel slide into his usual seat in front of the bar.

“Hey whiskers, lookin’ good.”

“Make another comment about the glasses and I’ll change my mind on the drinks.”

“Hey, no fair! I won that bet fair and square!”

“Sure.” Husk rolled his eyes. As he did, they caught on Lucifer, who was sitting further away on one of the couches. Something about his posture was odd, his face turned away.

“What’s up with him lately?”

Angel’s lips split into a grin as he glanced over at Lucifer, mischief in his eyes.

“Oh, I can make a pretty good guess. Can’t believe ya haven’t figured it out yet.”

Husk stifled a sigh. “Well, I definitely know you two haven’t started dating yet, you wouldn’t be able to hide that.”

“Psssh, shut up. No, not that.” Angel leaned forward, grin widening. “Wanna bet on it?”

“On what? Him?” Husk motioned with his head toward Lucifer.

“Yeah. I’m bettin’ that I know exactly what’s up with him.”

For a long moment, Husk stared at Angel, who batted his eyelashes at him, trying to act cute.

“Fine.”

He could tell that it was a struggle for Angel not to whoop as he agreed. Instead, voice full of laughter, he tried to keep his voice down as he spoke. “Okay, when I win, we try that thing I’ve been askin’ ya about.”

Husk scrunched his nose. “That’s gonna take days to prep for.”

Then, he took note of Angel’s exact choice of words. He raised an eyebrow, lips tugging into a smile. He was sounding mighty sure of himself. “And if you’re wrong?”

“I’m not! But if I am, I’ll let ya leave it as a surprise. Would make it more suspenseful, if I didn’t already know you’ll lose.”

“Sure, legs.” Husk could feel his smile grow wider. “So? What’s your guess?”

Angel snuck another glance Lucifer’s way before leaning in close to Husk’s ear.

“I bet,” he started, his whisper quiet to make sure there was no chance for anyone else to hear. “He can’t look at ya cus he thinks you’re too hot in those glasses, and any time he sees ya in’em he wants to jump ya.”

Husk scowled. “Will you quit it with the glasses thing and say what your real guess is already.”

“That was my guess.” Angel pouted as Husk looked at him with an expression that told him loud and clear that he thought he didn’t believe him. “I’m serious!”

“Sure you are.”

“I’ll prove it.”

“And how would you do that?”

Angel stood from his stool, a confident smile on his face. “Just watch.”

Husk watched Angel sit down next to Lucifer, leaning into his space.

“Hey, sweetcheeks, I got a question for ya.”

“Uuuh, yup, sure, what’s up?”

“Whatcha think about whisker’s new glasses?”

Even with Lucifer facing Angel, Husk could tell that his eyes were darting around the room, looking anywhere but at the two of them.

“They’re, uh, good. Great. Fine.”

“Ya told him that? Ya know he was very reluctant to get’em, he could use someone tellin’ him that. Other than me, of course.”

“I, uhh…” Lucifer stared down at his hands, claws creasing the fabric of his trousers. “Your, your glasses look great on you, Husk.”

Angel’s fingers grazed Lucifer’s cheek, nudging him. “Don’t ya usually look at someone if ya pay’em a compliment?”

At that, Lucifer’s cheeks grew golden as Angel’s hand on his cheek made his head turn, his eyes meeting Husk’s.

“I’ll be damned,” Husk whispered to himself (though, being in hell, he had already been damned a long time ago). Was Angel actually right?

“You look, uh…”

Lucifer trailed off. The longer he stared at Husk, the brighter his face glowed. As Angel stood up, grabbing him by the wrist to pull him out of his seat and over to the bar, it looked like he was going to combust.

“I look… what? I didn’t quite catch that.”

Alright, maybe he wanted to get in on the teasing. He could see how much Angel was enjoying it. It wasn’t every day you could turn the king of Hell into a flustered mess just by meeting his eye.

Lucifer hid his face behind a hand, though the embarrassed glow of his blush couldn’t be hidden. “I, uh, you look… really good with… glasses on.”

Grin slipping onto his face, Husk set down a glass in front of Lucifer. “I didn’t realise they looked good enough to set someone on fire.”

“What are you… oh, shit!” Lucifer smacked his shoulders that had been visibly smoking until they finally burst into flames after looking Husk in the eyes for too long. “Sorry, I don’t- fuck!”

Angel leaned across the bar, even as his eyes were trained on Lucifer, who was frantically trying to get himself to stop ruining his clothes with his own fire. This time, he made no attempts at keeping quiet.

“I told ya he wants to jump ya.”

They watched Lucifer choke on his own spit, lifting the glass in front of him to drain it in one large gulp. The coldness and the burn of the liquor seemed to allow him to gather himself just a tiny bit.

“Sorry, I, I know that’s not appropriate, when you already, uh… have a partner. I’m trying not to… do that anymore.”

Lucifer glanced at Angel, his eyes apologetic. Husk knew he was talking about the last times he was attracted to someone else’s partner (though the consequences could never be as large as when he slept with Lilith and Eve).

Leaning forward, he grabbed Lucifer by the chin, turning his eyes back toward him. “You know there are ways you can have more than one partner without it being cheating, right?”

Lucifer’s eyes darted toward Angel as he leaned against his back, effectively trapping him between them, with only the bar as a buffer.

“Yes, well, I… I hadn’t thought about… about that. Being something either of you are, uh, into.”

As Husk let go of him, he could feel the way Lucifer chased his touch.

A moment later, Husk leaned in, hand at the nape of Lucifer’s neck, pulling him in close.

Lucifer’s lips were cool to the touch, and as he gasped, Husk deepened the kiss. He could feel the shiver running through Lucifer’s body, could feel one of his hands on his chest, grabbing him by the fur, pulling him closer. The only way he could get closer now was if he climbed on top of the bar.

Husk’s hand on his neck pressed closer, the feeling of Lucifer’s cool tongue in his mouth making him grin into the kiss. He could hear Angel whisper something he didn’t catch into Lucifer’s ear, making Lucifer break the kiss to respond.

“Are you sure?”

“Fuck yeah, I am.”

Lucifer glanced over at Husk for a moment, before he made his way onto the bar, kneeling in front of Husk on the smooth surface. Husk would’ve been annoyed at Angel encouraging other people to adopt his bad habits, but he didn’t have the time to voice his complaints before Lucifer’s hands were on him again, pulling him into another kiss.

Lucifer’s chest pressed up against his, his claws burying in his hair, knocking his hat askew. He could hear him moan into the kiss, a soft, but surprisingly obscene sound in a place like this, and when he opened an eye to glance at Angel, he could see him at Lucifer’s neck, kissing, biting his skin, his hands on his chest.

Husk felt his lips tug upward, and he slid his own hands down until they squeezed Lucifer’s ass, tightly, and he could tell that it made Lucifer unsure of how to push into every single touch at once, though he still tried.

Finally, Lucifer pulled back. Husk could see the smoke rising from his shoulders.

“We should, uh… stop this, or I might burn your bar down but… I just wanted to say, properly…” He glanced over at Angel for a brief moment, Angel grinning back down at him. He turned back toward Husk. “You really do look good in glasses.”

Husk laughed.

“So you can say it to my face.”

The grin on his face was wide as he leaned forward, nose nearly grazing Lucifer’s face. “Thanks.”

Maybe getting glasses hadn’t been such a bad idea after all.

Not if this is where it led him.
